Our aim is to make you feel as relaxed and warm at Shores House as in your own home. After your long trip to Rock, you will just want to fall into the large comfy settees grouped among beautiful oriental carpets. The main reception room is vast, whilst everyone will have more than enough space around the big table in the dining room.

The kitchen is also very large, crafted from great chunks of oak and black granite. It has twin ovens, twin sinks and twin hobs so you have more than enough capability to feed the five thousand. The kitchen is open-plan to a family area with another sofa and a table that seats six. By the backdoor there’s a large shower-room and cupboard with drip tray for drying wetsuits.

On the first floor, mahogany antiques are set amongst gilt-framed oil paintings. The two main en-suite bedrooms look over the front gardens. The first has a limestone mosaic bathroom and Carerra marble washbasins. The second main bedroom is also en-suite, made from a sensuous mix of natural slate, granite and cedar. The family bathroom and the shower room serve the other bedrooms (two with double beds, two with twin beds). These rooms all look out across the back lawn. An upstairs study with its collection of DVDs, books and broadband point projects over the front door.

Upstairs, there is also a linen room with an airing cupboard, washing machine and tumble drier. Here, you’ll discover the eco-credentials of Shores House. A window set into the wall displays the natural wool insulation that has been stuffed into the whole building: two tons in all. A conventional house has a carbon footprint that is eight times greater than Shores House, which is why it was nominated by the RICS for a major Sustainability Award.

The mature grounds are sizeable for a new house in Rock, well-screened from the neighbours by tall hedges and huge, sweeping Monterey Pines. There are also garden chairs and tables and a BBQ.
